Man gets jail after violating probation
A Tamaqua man who has been in and out of Schuylkill County court has been sentenced to five to 12 months in jail followed by two years on probation.
David H. HarÂtranft, 24, was sentenced by Judge Jacqueline L. Russell, who also ordered him to undergo mental health and substance abuse evaluations.
Hartranft’s saga started on June 15, 2014, when he was charged by state police at Frackville with recklessly endangering another person and unlawful hunting in Schuylkill Township.
He was admitted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program on Jan. 22, 2015.
But he was removed from the program, which could have resulted in expunging the charges, on June 14, 2017, after violating the terms of the program.
He then pleaded guilty on Sept. 27, 2017, and Russell sentenced him to 12 months probation and fined him $200.
That was revoked on May 21, 2018, after he failed to meet the terms. Russell ordered a presentence investigation before she again sentenced Hartranft.
On Aug. 6, she sentenced him to the jail time and probation.
