Man ran after nearly hitting officer, striking car, police chase

Jim Thorpe police are investigating a suspected drug incident.

Police said at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the police department.

When the officers went to confront the driver, he fled the scene, almost striking one of the officers. The fleeing driver then struck a parked vehicle in the 900 block of Center Street.

Officers chased the car, which went into Nesquehoning, where borough police chased the car and it crashed.

The suspect abandoned his vehicle and ran off.

The investigation into the incident is continuing, with charges pending.

The suspect’s name is not being released at this time.
