A Bucks County man who assaulted a man he said was sexually assaulting a teenage girl, entered a guilty plea in Carbon County court on Monday.

Daniel Earle Williams, 47, of Pipersville, pleaded to one count of simple assault, mutual consent, for an incident on May 28, 2017, at a home along the 400 block of East Patterson Street in Lansford.

Williams was charged by Lansford police after they were called to a party at the residence in which a reported assault took place.

Williams told police he was at the party and observed a man sexually assaulting a young girl. He said he went to assist the girl and got into a fight with the man.

The man, Calvin D. Cederborg, 32, of Nesquehoning, was charged by Lansford police with sexual assault counts. In all he was charged with nine counts including five felonies. On March 19 he pleaded to one count of indecent assault with the other counts dropped including four counts of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault, and corruption of minors, in a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.

Judge Joseph J. Matika, who accepted the plea, told Williams his actions to stop the assault was appropriate, but he went too far, which led to the simple assault count.

Matika placed him on probation for nine months and ordered he render 50 hours of community service, have no contact with Cederborg, make restitution totaling $1,180.07 for medical expenses incurred by the victim, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
