Mansfield’s Flexer earns defensive honor
Mansfield University’s Dylan Flexer was named CSFL Defensive Player of the Week after his record-setting performance on Oct. 14 against Caldwell University.
Flexer, a Lehighton graduate, set a sprint football program record with five sacks in the Mountaineers’ 49-19 win on the road. It marked the fourth straight game that Flexer had recorded at least two sacks. Six of his seven solo tackles went for a loss for a total of 58 yards. He also forced a fumble on his third sack of the day.
Flexer has already set a school record in sacks in a season with 12 and is second on the career list with 16 after transitioning to the defensive line midway through the 2016 season. He also ranks fourth on the program’s all-time tackles list with 145 and is just five away from surpassing Justin DiMatteo (2009-12) for third on the list.
