Mansion House Hill closed now
The Mansion House Hill (Route 209) between Jim Thorpe borough and the Bagel Bunch in Mahoning Township is now closed.
It will be closed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. until further notice.
The Bagel Bunch is still open.
Bagel Bunch manager Chris Wharton, whose parents own the store said, “It’s been pretty steady today, but I have a feeling that once people are more aware of the road closing, it will slow down a little bit,” Wharton said.
“What has been helping is we have the construction workers coming up for breakfast and lunch, so that is helping us as well.”
“We’ve talked about maybe opening later and maybe staying open later; we’ll wait to see what our numbers are like for our current hours. We are open to making those decisions.”
Current hours are 5:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
During the full closures, Route 209 traffic will be detoured on Packerton Dam Road, Hemlock Drive, Route 902, South Ninth Street, Route 443, Route 209, Harrity Road, Fairyland Road, Long Run Road, Maury Road and Route 903.
A single lane will be open on Route 209 north and south weekdays from 3 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 3 p.m. Fridays through 8:30 a.m. Mondays.
All lanes, from the Bagel Bunch lot to the Highland Beverage lot, will be closed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the exception of July 2-6 and some other holidays built into the contract such as the Friday and Monday surrounding Labor Day weekend.
One lane in each direction will be open outside those hours, barring any unsafe conditions.
