Marian Drama Club presents ‘Seussical: The Musical’ this weekend
The Marian Catholic Drama Club will present its annual full-length musical, running from Friday through Sunday in the high school auditorium.
Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty’s “Seussical: The Musical” is based on the works of Dr. Seuss and weaves together characters and tales from at least 15 of his books.
The show follows the adventures of Horton, an elephant who one day hears voices coming from a speck of dust. He soon discovers that on this speck exists a tiny race of creatures known as Whos. Although ridiculed by the other animals in the Jungle of Nool for believing in something he cannot see, Horton stubbornly persists in his belief that the Whos do exist. Traveling everywhere from McElligot’s Pool to Solla Sollew, these beloved characters fall in love, have death-defying adventures and even save the world!
“Seussical: The Musical” stars Michael Ecker as Cat in the Hat, Emily Meier as Jojo, Joseph Maguschak as Horton the Elephant, and Claudia Stroia as Gertrude McFuzz.
Ethan Antalosky and Emily Roberti lead the small world of Whoville as Mr. and Mrs. Mayor, respectively, along with General Genghis Kahn Schmitz, played by Brayden Webb. Mayzie LaBird is portrayed by Corrin Dagostin, and her fabulous group of Bird Girls includes: Erica Baba, Isabella Blasko, Regina Cullen, Julia Hoben and Shay-Lynn Mahon.
Sour Kangaroo, played by Sarah Berube, and Young Kangaroo, played by Maddie Dembinski, try to protect the Jungle of Nool from Horton’s shenanigans. Sour Kangaroo’s right-hand men, the Wickersham Brothers, include: Ryan Chapman, Aidan Hinchey, Henry Kreisl, Jarred Maylath, Aaron Srinivasan and Alexander Tate.
Other iconic Dr. Seuss characters like the Grinch (Zaccary Roberts), Vlad Vladikoff (Preston Biros), Yertle the Turtle (Joshua Hurst) and Thing 1 and Thing 2 (Abigail Pazdon and Anna Nelson, respectively) can be seen throughout the show.
The ensemble consists of: Gianna Agosti, Kobie Arndt, Elena Beckett, Christina Capparell, Joseph DeLash, Reese Erbe, Antonia Galasso, Joseph Jordan, Jacob McNelis, Max Nolter, Brady Whilden and Danielle Williams.
