McAdoo arrests

McAdoo Police released information on several recent arrests.

• James Oliver, 29, of Hazle Township, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and driving with inoperable license plate lights. He was stopped for the traffic offense at 3:43 a.m. May 18. Blood tests taken that morning indicate he had a 0.156 percent blood alcohol content.

• Audalis Diaz, 23, of Patterson, New Jersey, was stopped at 11:45 p.m. May 19 for having heavily tinted windows. She admitted smoking marijuana and was taken for blood tests. The results were positive for THC and methamphetamine. She was charged with three counts of driving under the influence and summary offenses.

• Marino Diaz Martinez, 22, of Hazleton, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of the May 19 traffic stop involving Audalis Diaz.

• Michael Merenda, 32, of McAdoo, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on May 26. Blood tests were positive for THC, methamphetamine, amphetamine and fentanyl. A small amount of marijuana was found under the passenger seat of his vehicle. He was also charged with the traffic offenses.

• Odetta Acosta, 41, of McAdoo, was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after she caused a disturbance on West Sherman Street at 9:30 p.m. on June 14.

Daniel Cunningham, 48, of McAdoo, was charged with obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct after he interfered with police at 5:15 p.m. April 23. Officers were conducting field sobriety tests at the time, when Cunningham took the driver’s arm and began walking away. He also interfered with the officers’ search of the suspect’s vehicle.

• McKenzie Yackanich, 27, Sugarloaf, was unhappy with a parking ticket issued by McAdoo police on June 9 and decided to file a complaint. She went to the police department at 2:19 p.m. after receiving the ticket earlier in the day. Unhappy with the response she received, she threw the ticket to the ground in the department’s parking lot, then walked away. She was cited for littering.
