McAdoo Police Log
McAdoo police reported the following arrests and incidents:
• Joendy Diaz Torres, 30, of McAdoo, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and criminal trespassing. Charges stem from a Feb. 19 incident. Police were dispatched to West Sherman Street. Police spoke to the victim upon arrival, who told police that Torres, the father of his girlfriend’s children, entered his residence without consent. Torres was armed with a knife and entered the victim’s bedroom and struck him several times. The victim had blood on multiple areas of his body and a bite mark on his back.
• Luis Rosa, 25, of McAdoo, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia stemming from a Feb. 18 incident. Police were dispatched to North Manning Street for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, police noticed a marijuana cigarette on a banister. It was seized and Rosa told police it was his and that he did not know marijuana was not legal.
• Darren Lawrence, 45, of Kelayres, was charged with driving under the influence, trespass by motor vehicle, driving under suspension and careless driving after a Jan. 10 incident.
Police were dispatched to Fegley’s Mini Mart for an intoxicated person. A man walked into a door and knocked it off the hinge. He went out the store and entered a vehicle. Police arrived when the man, Lawrence, was still in his vehicle about to leave — almost striking a pole as he did. Police followed the vehicle briefly and it then pulled into a driveway on West Blaine Street.
Lawrence said the driveway was not his and he turned into it because police were behind him. Lawrence was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, which showed he was impaired. He was taken into custody and for a blood test, which showed amphetamine and methamphetamine in his system.
• Michael Stiegelbauer, 25, of Hazleton, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and loitering and prowling at night time. Charges stem from an Oct. 16, 2019, incident. Police were advised of a possible stolen ATV. Two witnesses told police they had seen a man walking an ATV that looked like their friend’s. When the witnesses asked the man where he got the ATV, he said it was sold to him. Police responded to the victim’s address and observed fresh tracks in the grass where the ATV had been stored. The ATV was located at a residence on South Kennedy Drive. The occupants of the residence told police they had no idea how it got there. Police spoke to Stiegelbauer, who matched the witness description. In follow-up interviews, Stiegelbauer was positively identified as the man who stole the ATV.
• Ryan Fegley, 31, of Pottsville, was charged with disorderly conduct after a Feb. 17 incident. Police were dispatched to the area of Sheridan and Adams Streets for a disturbance. Police found several people in the street. Police were told that Fegley was in the street yelling at another man. Fegley then ripped his shirt off and wanted to fight the other man.
