McAdoo police report on arrests in the borough
McAdoo police reported on the following incidents:
• Police charged Luis Polanco, 46, of McAdoo, with driving under the influence after a traffic stop in the borough around 9 p.m. Nov. 21. Officers were on patrol when they saw a vehicle on the road with a smashed taillight. They conducted a traffic stop and noted a strong odor of alcohol on Polanco’s breath. He was given field sobriety tests and transported to the hospital for blood tests.
Test results determined his blood alcohol content was 0.125 percent, more than the legal limit of 0.08. He was also charged for the traffic violation.
• Lucas Coxe, 39, of McAdoo, was stopped for the ornamental lighting decorating his vehicle at 12:51 a.m. Jan. 14. He was found to have a suspended license, and a records check indicated there was a warrant for his arrest, issued by Schuylkill County officials in relation to a DUI case.
He was taken into custody, issued a citation, and transported to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville.
• Tyler Palermo, 24, of Nuremberg, was charged with retail theft after he failed to pay for a cup of coffee at Fegley’s Mini Mart. Palermo attempted to pay for the $1.26 brew with a debit card, but it was declined. He walked out of the store with the coffee anyway.
• Timothy Poremba, 47, of McAdoo, was charged with DUI of alcohol after a traffic stop Nov. 16. Officers saw him drive through a red light, at a high rate of speed, at 10:15 p.m. The vehicle slammed on its brakes, then reversed, and traveled south on Cleveland Street to Sherman Street, where he drove over the sidewalk into an empty lot and then attempted to drive over another sidewalk back onto Cleveland Street. He was stopped and appeared to be drunk to the point where he was unable to stand without leaning on the patrol car. He denied drinking. He was transported to the hospital for blood work.
Test results show he had cocaine and THC in his system, along with a blood alcohol content of 0.173 percent, twice the legal limit.
He was charged with five counts of DUI of a controlled substance and two traffic violations.
• Desiree Miller, 41, of Weatherly, was stopped for a headlight violation at 7:51 p.m. on Dec. 6. Police detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her. She admitted drinking a little bit. Her eyes were glossy and she had slurred speech. She was given field sobriety tests before being taken to the hospital for blood tests.
Results show a blood alcohol content of 0.21 percent, almost three times the legal limit. She was charged with two counts of DUI of alcohol and the traffic violation.
