McAdoo traffic stops
Several motorists were recently cited by McAdoo Police in connection with traffic stops.
• Marcus Castaneda, 23, of Drums, was stopped at 12:23 a.m. on Dec. 6 for having darkly tinted windows. An odor of marijuana was detected and officers conducted a search. They found a small bag of marijuana in Castaneda’s pants pocket and several pieces of vegetable matter in the cup holder.
He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and the traffic offense.
• Andy De Jesus Rosario, 19, of West Hazleton, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at 6:12 p.m. on Nov. 7. After detecting the odor of marijuana, the officer conducted a vehicle search and found a cylinder with trace amounts of marijuana under the front passenger seat.
He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
• A traffic stop at 10:34 a.m. on Nov. 2 led to charges being filed on three rear seat passengers, They were Dylan Quinn, Jason Marquez and Kiwanis Butler, all of Allentown.
Officers found a half-smoked marijuana blunt in a rear pocket next to a cup holder, in easy reach of all three passengers. No one claimed ownership, leading to all three being charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Butler had an outstanding warrant issued by Allentown City Police, so he was transferred to their custody.
• April McCarthy, 40, of McAdoo, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and having an open container of alcohol. She was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at 6:50 p.m. on Aug. 27.
Her open purse was sitting on the floor of the vehicle, with an open bottle of beer clearly visible. The purse also contained a pill bottle with suspected methamphetamine, a bag of suspected meth, a scale, $290 in cash and a cellphone.
