Meuser announces student congressional art competition
Congressman Dan Meuser, R-9th District, recently announced the opening of the 2019 9th Congressional District Art Competition.
The winning work from the district will be displayed along with winners from other congressional districts across the country in the United States Capitol. The competition is open to high school students residing in the 9th District.
“Ninth District students are as talented as any in the nation,” Meuser said.
“This competition is a terrific chance to show off the 9th District’s artistic ability in the halls of our nation’s capitol. I wish all the participants the best of luck and look forward to joining the winner for a ceremony in Washington in June.”
Submissions are due to the congressman’s office by 5 p.m. April 26 and may be turned in from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16 at state Rep. Doyle Heffley’s Albrightsville office, 2681 Route 903, Unit 3 or between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. through April 26 at his Pottsville district office, 121 Progress Ave., Suite 110.
Students’ artwork will be judged by an independent panel of Ninth District art experts, and will be assessed on artistic ability and creativity.
A student information and release form must be filled out and accompany each submission.
