Model railroad society hosts spring meet
A steady stream of model train and railroad enthusiasts of all ages attended the Spring Train Meet of the Carbon Model Railroad Society which was held in the Palmerton Area High School Gym this past weekend. They could see and purchase a wide variety of railroad memorabilia from over 100 tables set up in the gym. The meet featured model and toy trains, books, railroadiana, private collections, test tracks, operating layouts, dealers, historical societies as well as refreshments and door prizes.
Garry Mack, president of the Carbon Model Railroad Society, said that society is based in a retired chapel in Bowmanstown which accommodates about 2,000 square feet of model railroading.
