Monroe County Meals on Wheels moving to a new space

Published October 18. 2018 01:44PM

Monroe County Meals on Wheels will be holding an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at its new location at 901 Polk Valley Road in Stroudsburg.

“The new space is bigger, brighter and more vibrant than the old location,” said Case Manager Jozie Castaldo. “The newly renovated space is cleaner and more professional.”

Monroe County Meals on Wheels currently serves about 200 homebound clients throughout the county. Many of the clients receive two meals with each delivery, some five days a week, and some less.

“We are the only agency in the county that provides nutritious meals and social contact to the homebound seniors in the community,” Castaldo said.

The agency also provides congregate meals to four senior centers in the county: the Loder Senior Center, the Barrett Senior Center, the Tobyhanna Senior Center and Mount Zion Church Senior Center in Brodheadsville.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday evening is open to the public and is being sponsored by the Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce.

Those interested in attending are asked to park at the Realtors Association parking lot on Shafers Schoolhouse Road and use the free shuttle bus service that will be provided.
