Monroe driver facing charges

A Monroe County driver is facing charges following an incident that occurred on May 25 at a sobriety checkpoint.

State police at Lehighton said Eugene Schwenck, 45, of Effort, was stopped at a checkpoint operation in the 1200 block of Route 209 in Polk Township, Monroe County, at 11:35 p.m.

At the stop, Schwenck was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
