Monroe man dead following officer-involved shooting

A Monroe County man is dead following an officer-involved shooting along Westwood Drive in Coolbaugh Township on Saturday.

At 1:20 p.m., the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department responded to an aggravated assault call in the area of Westwood Drive in which a woman reported she was stabbed.

The suspect in the aggravated assault, Matthew Adam Miller, 33, of Tobyhanna, fled the scene armed with a knife.

Miller was located at the rear of the property on Westwood Drive and confronted by an officer from the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.

During the confrontation, Miller was shot and killed.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop N Major Case Team, with assistance from the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, will continue to investigate the details of this shooting.
