Monroe man fatally shot in his vehicle
A shooting in Tobyhanna leaves one man dead and another fleeing for his life.
A call came into the Pocono Mountain Regional Police at 10:45 p.m. Sunday regarding shots heard in the area of Winter Court in Tobyhanna.
At that same time, police also received calls about a vehicle crash at the intersection of Winter Court and Pembrook Terrace. Callers said a man was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat. When the police arrived, they found the driver, identified as Daniel Matthew Santana, 20, of Tobyhanna, dead in the vehicle.
Soon after arriving at the scene, police received calls about a man knocking on doors asking for help. With the assistance of a K-9 unit, the police found the man. Angel Rodriguez-Martinez, 21, of Tobyhanna, told police he fled the vehicle when he and Santana were fired upon by assailants. He escaped without injury.
The police recovered evidence from the scene and are seeking multiple search warrants.
No arrests have been made at this time. Police are asking the public to remain vigilant and to report any information or suspicious activity to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department at 570-895-2400.
Police were assisted by the Monroe County Coroner, Monroe County District Attorneys Office and the Pennsylvania State Police.
