A Monroe County man was jailed on Thursday for threatening family members and a neighbor with a gun during a domestic incident.

State police at Lehighton identified the suspect as James Barruzza, 47, of Kunkletown, Polk Township.

Troopers said at 1:05 p.m. they responded to a residence along Greenwood Drive at East Nottingham Drive for a physical domestic incident.

Troopers said Barruzza punched a 14-year-old boy in the face and then pushed a woman.

A neighbor assisted in breaking up the domestic assault which resulted in Barruzza being forced outside. Barruzza then got a handgun and pointed it at the neighbor, threatening to shoot him. At this time the neighbor and three other people were located at the front door of the residence.

Barruzza ran away before troopers arrived. He was found a few blocks away and armed in a handgun. He was taken into custody without further incident. He is facing multiple charges and is currently lodged in the county prison in Snydersville.
