Mullikin to round out L. Towamensing board
A well-known face will help round out Lower Towamensing Township’s board of supervisors.
On a 2-0 vote at a special meeting Saturday morning, the board appointed John “Jay” Mullikin to the empty seat.
Mullikin will succeed former longtime Supervisor Bernard Jesse Mendez, who died on March 26.
Currently vice chairman of the township’s planning commission, Mullikin was one of three applicants to apply.
The other two candidates who applied were Kip George and Tina Henninger, according to township secretary Christine Wentz.
Mullikin will fill the remainder of Mendez’s term, which expires in 2022, Wentz said.
Mendez had served as a township supervisor since 1987.
