Naked Schuylkill man dies after struggle with police
A Schuylkill County man died on Saturday afternoon after struggling with police.
State police at Schuylkill Haven identified the man as Adam Gamrak, 38, of North Greenview Road, North Manheim Township.
Troopers said at 3:30 p.m. they responded to Gamrak’s home to a report of a man acting erratically. On scene troopers could hear Gamrak in a garage located on the lower floor of the residence. While attempting to contact the subject, Gamrak left the garage and aggressively ran toward the troopers. Troopers said Gamrak was naked, except for wearing one sock.
Gamrak failed to follow commands given to him and police deployed a Taser. A lengthy struggle ensued. After being placed into custody Gamrak became unresponsive and lost consciousness. A Schuylkill EMS unit responded to the scene and transported him to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital, in North Manheim Township, where he later died.
Troopers said it is suspected that Gamrak was under the influence of controlled substances.
Troopers said the investigation remains open pending an autopsy and toxicology results.
