NCC to hold Sustainability Symposium
Northampton Community College will hold a full-day of sustainability-themed events from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 24 in room 220, College Center, Bethlehem Campus, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem Township.
Speakers will discuss environmental and sustainability issues. Topics include: Sustainability and the Community; What the Frack?; Climate Reality and the IPCC Report; What Now?; Student Led Initiatives; Will Engineering Save Us? Climate Change and Environmental Justice; and Green College Initiatives.
Workshops include recycling and composting, tour of the East40, writing letters to the editor and more.
The symposium will conclude with a 6 p.m. presentation of the documentary “Paris to Pittsburgh” with a Q&A to follow. “Paris to Pittsburgh” is set against the national debate over the United States’ energy future, and the explosive decision to exit the Paris Climate Agreement. It captures what’s at stake for communities around the country and the inspiring ways Americans are responding.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to registered attendees. If you want a break during the symposium, you can walk out to the quad for NCC’s annual Earth Day event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a farmers market, student and environmental group tabling and live entertainment from noon until 1:30 p.m.
Registration is recommended. For more information or to be included on the mailing list, email Anita Forrester at aforrester@northampton.edu.
