Nesquehoning man charged with stealing car

A Nesquehoning man has been charged with stealing a vehicle that was tracked to Carbon Plaza Mall.

Robert Werner, 36, was found driving a vehicle that was reported stolen on Dec. 22.

According to police, dispatchers were able to ping the vehicle, which was stolen from Palmerton, and located it in the parking lot of Big Lots.

When officers arrived on scene, the driver, identified as Werner, took off at a high rate of speed. He stopped after police turned on their lights.

Police detected an odor of alcohol and conducted field sobriety tests. They took him into custody and conducted a blood test, which revealed a 0.223 BAC.
