Nesquehoning resident tips off police to burglary in old movie theater

Nesquehoning police thwarted a burglary at an old movie theater, thanks to a Nesquehoning resident who spotted a flashlight inside the abandoned building at 66 East Catawissa St.

Police responded at 9 p.m. Sunday and two juvenile females and one male were caught inside the building stealing.

Police discovered requested the fire company for assistance in bringing the male out of the building.

The crews were concerned about the stability of the building.

The fire department found the young male on the second floor of the building.

It was discovered that he had broken into the basement of the theater and became disoriented and could not find his way out. It was reported that he awaiting the arrival of his girlfriend when he became trapped.

Multiple police from around the area responded to the assist Nesquehoning police.

All three were taken into custody and released. Police said charges will be filed.
