Financial assistance is available thanks to drug forfeiture money through the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office.

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli met with borough council on Thursday to discuss a new outreach program.

Morganelli told council they have extra funding thanks to an exceptional year for drug money forfeitures in the county.

He said the program’s goal is individual meetings with each area municipality and his office, as well as funding for block watch organizations.

“The message is we want to alert all of you because we have extra funding,” Morganelli said. “We’re willing to help with startup costs for programs.”

Morganelli said he “hasn’t heard any complaints” about the borough’s police department.

“We’re here to help offer some financial assistance to police if you need it,” he said. “If you want us to come do a presentation, we’re willing to come to Walnutport and (do) a presentation.”
