We may live in Pennsylvania, but a restaurant that has a commitment to Southern hospitality and homemade meals is coming to Nesquehoning next year.

Kathy (Kovatch) and Ric Reaman are bringing a Huddle House, an iconic Southern-style eatery, to the borough.

The new restaurant, set to open in early 2019, will be located at the intersection of routes 209 and 93, where the former Le Quattro Stagioni restaurant operated for a brief time before a fire shut down the operation. The current structure on the site will be demolished by the middle of June.

“We are excited to open our very first Huddle House location in our hometown,” said Kathy Kovatch Reaman. “As residents of Nesquehoning for the majority of our lives, we believe the long-term success of our community relies on people who continue to invest in it.”

The Reamans plan to run the Nesquehoning Huddle House as a family business because entrepreneurship is in their blood.

The couple has an extensive background in business management, having both been employed at Kovatch Mobile Equipment in Nesquehoning, a business founded by Kathy’s father over 70 years ago.

When asked why, out of all the franchise opportunities out there, they chose the Huddle House, the Reamans said it was the home-cooked menu — which includes everything from breakfast to late-night meals and sweet Southern treats that could satisfy any hungry crowd, all at reasonable prices — that appealed to them the most.

The pair also loved what the restaurant stood for with its “Any Meal, Any Time” mentality, which aligned with their feelings of wanting to give back to the community.

“Ric and Kathy are exactly the right entrepreneurs to bring Huddle House to Nesquehoning,” said Christina Chambers, senior vice president of franchise development for Huddle House.

“Their family values and close ties to the community are a reflection of those values that Huddle House was founded upon more than 50 years ago. We’re eager to see their restaurant become an integral part of the community.”

The Nesquehoning location will be Huddle House’s fourth restaurant in Pennsylvania. Others are located in East Stroudsburg, Mount Morris and Myerstown.
