New vehicle for police department
Walnutport plans to pursue a new car for its police department from casino gaming money.
Borough council on a 6-0 vote Thursday, agreed to pursue a new police car for the police department. Councilwoman Joan Rehrig was absent.
Council’s decision came after grant coordinator Michael Wentz announced that the borough received a grant in the amount of $32,000 from Sands Casino gaming money.
Wentz said the police department is in dire need of replacing a 2006 Ford Expedition, and that the grant will allot the department a new car with no money having to be footed by the taxpayers.
He said the grant should cover the cost of the vehicle.
