No parking on sidewalks in Nesquehoning

Published August 13. 2018 12:50PM

Nesquehoning residents are reminded that parking a vehicle on a borough sidewalk is not allowed.

Borough police Chief Sean Smith, in conjunction with Nesquehoning Mayor Sam Kitchko and Nesquehoning Borough Council, announced that vehicles parked and blocking a sidewalk will be cited with the possibility of their vehicle also being towed unless they are parking there under “the direction of a police officer or traffic-control official.”

This action, which went into effect July 1, is also part of the borough’s ordinance regarding parking locations. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation requires a minimum sidewalk width of 4 feet to the curb.

Fines for the violation are $50.
