No tax increase in West Penn Twp.
West Penn Township residents won’t have to dole out more money toward their municipal tax rates next year.
At least not after the township’s board of supervisors on Monday unanimously agreed to adopt the 2018 budget with no tax increase.
The $2.3 million spending plan will leave the millage rate unchanged at 4.75 mills.
However, as part of this year’s budget, supervisors agreed to give an extra $5,000 to both the township’s fire department and ambulance department.
This year, residents also saw no increase in their municipal tax rates.
As part of that budget, the board agreed to increase the local service tax from $10 to $52, which only affected people who are employed in the township.
Raising the tax was expected to generate about an additional $23,000 for the township.
