Charges filed in two theft incidents

Tamaqua police filed charges in two theft-related incidents from the last week.

Katie Garcia, 33, of 104 Schuylkill Ave., Tamaqua, was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. She reportedly took a Sony Tablet from another occupant of the apartment building on Jan. 22.

James E. Bloss, 61, of 303 Washington St., Tamaqua, was cited for retail theft on Jan. 25. Bloss was charged after he was caught returning items he didn't buy for cash refunds. Video surveillance shows Bloss taking receipts from a trash can at the Family Dollar Store, 125 Center St., then taking items from the shelves and "returning" them for cash, using the trashed receipts. He was caught in the act at 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 25.
