July 24, 1965 Larry Pietruch breaks a tie game with a solo home run and Lansford goes on to gain a 10-5 victory over Jim Thorpe in the District 18 Little League tournament. Pietruch finishes with two hits and two runs scored. The winners also receive homers from Gerry Kucan, Mike Partel and Sam Alonge while John Oransky collects three hits and knocks in four runs. Alonge earns the pitching win, tossing a five-hitter.
