Rejects jury trial

Kevin Michael Hook, 27, last known address, Cressona, was scheduled to go on trial before a jury but had a change of heart and pleaded guilty to charges of theft and receiving stolen property.

Judge John E. Domalakes accepted the guilty plea and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a pre-sentence investigation. Hook was released on his current bail and ordered to report on Tuesday, Oct. 4, for sentencing.

He as cited by Trooper John Sleboda of theft of items valued at $18,557 fro the Hexel Corporation plant in the Industrial Park, in East Norwegian Township, last Jan. 23.

Gets extra time

Raimon A. Johnson, 25, an inmate in the state correctional facility in Ryan Township, pleaded guilty to possessing weapons or instruments of crime for escape, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. He was sentenced by Judge Charles M. Miller to serve two to four years in the prison, consecutive to the current sentence he is now serving.

Reduce bail

Tykeem Sharrod Brown, 21, Pottsville, had his bail modified to $1,000 percentage cash by Judge James P. Goodman subject to special conditions: The defendant shall reside at 12 N. 11th St., Pottsville, and shall not relocate from that residence without prior court approval; shall have no contact with the victim, shall abide by a 10 p.m. curfew, shall not transport or have in his possession any alcohol or controlled substances, and shall seek employment.

Brown was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Joseph J. Krammes, with two counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance.

General plea

Three defendants who were called to court to pick a jury for their trial decided to enter a general plea to the criminal charges filed against them. Judge Miller accepted their guilty pleas and set sentences on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Bria Moriah Jacoby, 28, Schuylkill Haven, pleaded nollo contendre (no defense) to charges of endangering the welfare of children, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.

Hubert Mandrell Wakefield, 33, Pottsville, entered a general guilty plea to a charge failure to comply with regulations of a sex offender.

Matthew Craig Livingston, 26, Pottsville, entered a general guilty plea to a charge of burglary of a private home at 106 N. Third St., Pottsville, and theft of a television set.

Reinstate bail

Brian Lee Dietrick, 41, Ashland, had his bench warrant dissolved and bail reinstated by Judge Charles M. Miller with the condition he must reside at 300 Chestnut St., Ashland, with a phone number, and must not relocate without written permission from the district attorney's office or public defender's office.

Dietrick faces charges of retail theft from the Kmart Store, Schuylkill Mall, brought by Trooper Scott M. Grochowski.

Revoke probation

Kevin A. Roberts, Pottsville, had his probation revoked by Judge John E. Domalakes and he was re-sentenced.

On a charge of corruption of minors, serve two to 23 months in the county prison followed by three years on probation, shall enroll in sex offender treatment program, and have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 years old.
