Chestnut Ridge Seniors

The Chestnut Ridge Seniors will meet on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co. They will be celebrating Columbus Day with a Chinese auction. Bring a bag lunch.

Exercise class for seniors

Every week, there is an exercise class for seniors (55 and older) at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. The classes are sponsored by the Pocono Health System. The classes are low level, gentle exercises that anyone can do. All are invited to help keep you fit and limber.

Halloween parade

The Eldred Township Halloween Parade will be held on Sunday Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. Registration deadline is Sunday, Oct. 14. There is no registration fee but only the registered entrants are guaranteed a treat bag at the end of the parade. Registration forms are available at the township building or online at http://eldredtownshipholloweenparade.viviti.com.

St. Matthew's Bible Study

Pastor Suzanne Brooks-Cope will be holding a Bible Study class each Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The class will study the Book of Psalms. Anyone is welcomed to attend. For more information, you may call the church office at (610) 381-2442.

World Communion Sunday

This Sunday, Oct. 7, is World Communion Sunday. St. Matthew's UCC will observe this holy day with the rest of the world at its 9 a.m. worship service. Everyone is invited to attend.

Artist reception

Local artist Will Daskall will be the guest of honor at an artist's reception at the ARTSPACE Gallery, 18 N. 7 St., Stroudsburg, on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 1-4 pm. in a tribute to the "glorious splendor of the Pocono landscape."
