Celebrating the Navy's birthday

Saturday, Oct. 13, was The U.S. Navy's Birthday. Born in 1775.

The Carbon County Navy Club Ship 260 celebrated it on Oct. 10, in Lansford, with a short service and followed with refreshments.

I'd like at this time to thank those who showed up. Also thanks to THE TIMES NEWS covering it and Channel 13 for airing a small part of it.

Thanks to Veterans Affairs for suppling the bugle use for taps and Sheriff Dwight Nothstein (a Navy vet for coming).

As always Reverend Marjorie did a superb job. We appreciate her more than can be expressed. We invited the J.R.O. T.C.- Commissioners- First Responders (Police-Fire rescue etc.). National Guard, Boy and Girl Scouts- plus all veterans, their families and friends, I guess they had other plans.

Special thanks to Ship Commander, Scott Reinhardt and Ship Jr. X.O. Edward Clausius and his wife and two associate members, Sue Anthony and her daughter, Felecia Sue.

We are trying to start a tradition. This was our third year.

Navy Club meets at Nesquehoning V.F.W. last Monday of every month at 7 p.m.

This next meeting I'll find out if we continue this every year or if it's canceled.
