Tax exemptions

The Schuylkill County and Tamaqua Borough Per Capita and Occupation Tax Exemption Forms for the year 2013 will become available on Oct. 29 for Borough of Tamaqua residents.

The exemption forms can be obtained at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Forms will also be available at tax collector Alan Kerr's office, the Tamaqua Area School District Administration building, the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, Majestic House Apartment Complex, the Tamaqua Public Library and the Tamaqua Post Office.

Residents must complete the form each year to qualify for the tax exemption.

Exoneration forms must be submitted by Friday, Jan. 25, 2012.

Senior citizens

The Tamaqua Seniors met Oct. 18 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 82 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and provided an inspirational reading. Secretary Joan Ann Garber and Vice President Nancy Gerber provided their reports.

Rose Vallee provided the invocation, entitled "Life In God's Garden."

Rose Eich was added to the sick list.

A representative from Wells Fargo will be at this week's meeting to discuss credit scores. Also, the apple dumplings will be delivered and Halloween will be celebrated. Costumes are encouraged.

The meeting concluded with cards and social games.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.

First Methodist

The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church. The service will include a children's message offered by Marge Kropp. Sunday school will be held following the message.

Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday, Bible study session will be at 10:30 a.m. and the chancel choir will rehearse at 7 p.m.: Thursday, trustees will meet at 6 p.m. and the administrative council will met at 7 p.m.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes and the junior membership classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the ministry council will meet at 11:45 a.m. resolution session will be held at 7 p.m.; tuff stuff, for junior and senior high school students, will meet at 7 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, "Forgiveness" study for the women's group begins at 6:30 p.m., drama group meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, encountering Jesus group meets at 11 a.m., Good News Club meets at the South Ward Playground at 3:45 p.m., fall sports study program begins at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare meets at 7 p.m., "The Story" growth group meets at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, end times group meets at 1 p.m., Men's Fraternity meets at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, musician's rehearsal at 8:30 a.m., church workday begins at 9 a.m., praise practice at 9:30 a.m., motorcycle ride at 11 a.m.
