Youth workshop

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a youth protection workshop from 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 4. The program is open to all area volunteers who work with children. Such training is often required by church and organization policies and insurance carriers.

Melissa B. Haydt, consultation services coordinator for Family Life Services and Diakon, will lead the session.

To register, call (570) 668-2180 before Oct. 31. The church is located at the intersection of Greenwood and Mauch Chunk streets.

Tax exemptions

The Schuylkill County and Tamaqua Borough Per Capita and Occupation Tax Exemption Forms for the year 2013 will become available on Oct. 29 for Borough of Tamaqua residents.

The exemption forms can be obtained at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Forms will also be available at tax collector Alan Kerr's office, the Tamaqua Area School District Administration building, the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, Majestic House Apartment Complex, the Tamaqua Public Library and the Tamaqua Post Office.

Residents must complete the form each year to qualify for the tax exemption.

Exoneration forms must be submitted by Friday, Jan. 25, 2012.

Zion Lewistown

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. church service. Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the Calvary/Zion Youth Group will meet at 3 p.m. at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.

Trinity UCC

The Rev. Thomas Reinsel will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday. The service will be followed by a coffee hour. Sunday school classes meet at 8:45 a.m.

Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, election day dinner; Wednesday, Bible study at 7 p.m.; Thursday, senior choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, prayer shawl meeting at 1 p.m.

Zion Lutheran

The Rev. Jeffrey Kistler will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will be followed by a time of coffee and conversation at 11 a.m. Sunday school classes will meet at 8:30.

Also on Sunday, the First Communion Class will meet at 11 a.m.; a youth protect workshop will be held at 2 p.m.; and Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.

Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Scouts meet at 6 p.m., property committee meets at 6 p.m., finance committee meets at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Girl Scout leader meeting at 6 p.m., senior choir rehearsal will be held at 7 p.m.
