Altar & Rosary
The next meeting of the Altar & Rosary Society at our Lady Queen of Peace Church will be at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14 in McCawley Hall. Anyone needing more information can contact Arlene M. at (570) 992-5022.
West End Rotary
The West End Rotary Club will hold a Club Assembly at its Nov. 15 breakfast meeting. The club meets at 7:30 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville. The club will not meet on Thursday, Nov. 22, due to Thanksgiving.
PV Board meets
The Pleasant Valley Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, at the district office.
Blood drive at WPCL
The Western Pocono Community Library (WPCL) and the World Martial Arts Academy of Pennsylvania are sponsoring a blood drive to benefit the Miller Keystone Blood Center on Monday, Nov. 19 at WPCL parking lot from noon until 6 p.m. Call (570) 234-4424 to schedule a time.
Contemporary service
Effort United Methodist Church will offer its once-a-month contemporary service at 9:45 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 18.
The Praise Band, under the direction of Greg Magill, will lead the worship service.
Free hike
A free McMichaels Creek Hike is being offered at 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, rain or shine, for all ages via the West End Park & Open Space Commission. The walk is over moderate terrain. Participants are asked to meet at Chestnuthill Park, Route 715, Brodheadsville.

Thanksgiving service
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network will be hosting a Thanksgiving Service at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, at St. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown.
Learn quilling
The Western Pocono Women's Club is holding its monthly meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at Effort United Methodist Church. The speaker will be Elaine Altemose who will demonstrate the art of quilling.
The WPWC welcomes all new members and is open to all women who wish to make a difference in the West End of Monroe County.

Diversity Task Force
Pleasant Valley School District Diversity Task Force will meet from 9:30-11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the district office. The high school PAC meeting is set for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21.
Apple A Day
The Chestnuthill Senior Center at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will be entertained by a program entitled "Apple a Day" when the group meets Nov. 21. The program will be presented at 11:30 a.m.
Anyone planning to attend the luncheon is asked to let site manager Doris Phillips know a day or two ahead by calling (570) 992-6988.
Free lunch
Our Lady Queen of Peace offers a free luncheon the third Wednesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. The next luncheon is set for Nov. 21 in McCawley Hall. Those planning to attend should call (610) 681-6135 to register.
Thanksgiving dinner
Effort United Methodist Church will host its seventh annual Community Thanksgiving Feast on Thanksgiving Day. Anyone who may be home alone, or who does not having enough to provide a full meal for loved ones, is invited to join the church in this day of thanks, fellowship and of course lots of food.
Fellowship Hour with light hors d'oeuvres will be served at 2 p.m., followed by opening prayer, traditional Thanksgiving feast, dessert and closing devotions.
A kid's corner set up with games and activities will be available as will a TV to watch the parade or the game of the day.
Seating is available for 100 people. Reservations are recommended, but necessary. To make reservations, call the church office at (570) 629-1890.
All are welcome.
RSVP needs help
Volunteers are being sought by RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) for two activities at Chestnut Hill Nursing Home. The first is for someone to help play bingo and visit with residents with flexible time between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.; the second, for helping serve and clean up lunches Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tutors are also needed at Pleasant Valley School District.
