Seniors meet

Monroe Seniors, who gather at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, are slated to meet on Friday, Dec. 28 as well as on Wednesday, Jan. 2 and Friday, Jan. 4, in the church's Fellowship Hall. Doors open at 9 a.m.

Masses scheduled

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold Mass on Sunday, Dec. 30, Holy Family, at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and at noon. On Monday, Dec. 31, Mass will be at 4 p.m. and on Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 10 a.m. and at noon.

PVEN Board meets

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network board of directors will meet at 9 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.

PV Band Parents

The Band Parents group for the Pleasant Valley School District will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3 at the high school in Brodheadsville.

Religious classes

There will be no religious classes at Our Lady Queen of Peace on Dec. 22, 23, 24, 25 and Dec. 29, 30, 31 and Jan. 1. Classes will resume Jan. 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Night of Unity

Pleasant Valley High School will once again host the district's Night of Unity, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26. A variety of ethnic groups and community outreach groups will be present.

BP Screening

Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the Jan. 9 meeting of the Monroe County Seniors meeting at the Fellowship Hall of Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.

Happy Christmas

Just a reminder that the days of Christmas continue through Jan. 6, which is Epiphany, celebrated as the Coming of the Wise Men to Bethlehem. Think of the song: "The Twelve Days of Christmas."

Kwanzaa begins

Today marks the start of the Kwanzaa celebration. It too celebrates with some commonly known symbols.
