Seven locals are LV Soccer Scholar Athletes
The annual Lehigh Valley Soccer Scholar Athlete Banquet will take place on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 5:30 p.m. at Fullerton Fire Co. hall.
Kris Holland
Lehighton
Holland is a defender with one career goal. He ranks 42nd in a class of 193 and has a GPA of 3.71 out of 4.0.
He played soccer all four years as well as baseball for three years. He has play eight year for Franklin Township.
James Bilger
Northern Lehigh
Bilger is a forward with 30 career goals and 27 assists. He ranks 28th in a class of 148 and has a GPA of 5.504 out of 3.5.
He's a 2009, 2010 all-league honorable mention member and named the school's outstanding soccer player. He was named to the 2011 second team. Some activities include: Neffs UCC youth group, Neffs UCC confirmation team teacher, Scout Troop 66, SADD, senior video committee and volunteer at Northern Lehigh Food Bank.
Bilger has six years experience for St. Thomas Moore and three years for BSA Rage Super-Y League. He plans to attend Penn State Harrisburg to major in electrical engineering.
Joshua Breckenridge
Northwestern
Breckenridge is a defender who has two career goals and four assists. He ranks 19th in a class of 203 and has a 95.58 GPA out of 100.
He was a JV defensive MVP, two-year varsity letter winner and a two year JV letter winner. Activities include: track, debate, National Honor Society, Scholastic Scrimmage, ski club and 6th Sense Advisor.
He has 12 years of club soccer experience with NYAA and STM and plans to attend a four-year college to major in engineering.
Brett Snyder
Palmerton
Snyder is a goalie with 251 career saves and three career shutouts. He ranks 16th in a class of 140 and has a GPA of 3.997 out of 4.3.
He's a four-sport athlete at Palmerton and a four-year student council member. Some activities include: Leo Club, Environmental Club, FBLA, golf, basketball, baseball and National Honor Society.
Snyder also has six years experience with Towamensing. He plans to attend a four-year college to major in education and speech pathology.
Troy Schauder
Pleasant Valley
Schauder is a center-mid who has one career goal. He ranks 34th in a class of 492 and has a GPA of 3.8 out of 4.0.
He had 10 years experience with the West End travel team and plans to attend Penn State and is undecided on a major.
Samson Walton
Weatherly
Walton is a goalie with 620 career saves. He ranks 28th in a class of 52 and has a GPA of 3.3 out of 4.0.
He lettered in soccer for three years, baseball for four years and basketball for a year. He's a Schuylkill League first team all-start and a soccer captain his senior year, as well as a basketball and baseball captain. Some activities include: band, soccer, basketball and baseball.
