The engagement of Maria Joan Martino of Jim Thorpe to Brendan Paul Whitfield of Ashburn, Va. has been announced by their parents.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of John and Patricia Martino of Jim Thorpe. She is a 2005 graduate of Marian Catholic High School and a 2009 graduate of DeSales University, where she earned a bachelor of science in nursing.
She is employed as a critical care nurse in the Lehigh Valley.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Peter and Mary Ellen Whitfield of Ashburn. He is a 2005 graduate of Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, Va. and a 2009 graduate of DeSales University, where he earned a bachelor of science in management.
He is employed as an operations supervisor in the Lehigh Valley.
A wedding is being planned for July of this year.
