Breaker Boys open with win

The Panther Valley Breaker Boys got their first win of the season on Sunday, April 1.

The Breakers Boys defeated the Hazleton Trojans 69-6, in a Great Eastern Football Association game in Summit Hill.

Mark Fox threw a Breaker Boys record eight touchdown passes in the contest without getting intercepted.

Fox got the Breaker Boys (1-1) off to a quick start by tossing a first quarter TD pass to Jesse Lincovich. Shawn Nunemacher added three touchdown receptions in the opening half and Fogel also caught one as the Breaker Boys built a 35-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Jarred Muffley racked up 42 yards on the ground 58 yards receiving to go along with a pair of Breaker Boys' touchdowns. Nunemacher added another touchdown reception, Brandon Heffelfinger scampered seven yards for a score, and Lincovich completed the scoring on the last play of the game with a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown.

The Breaker Boys' defense pitched a shutout until late in the third quarter as Shane Kaufman led the way with seven tackles, including two for a loss. Bryant Butala added six tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception. Marcos Perez contributed four tackles and also shared a sack with Monty Lash.
