The Pleasant Valley boys' tennis team defeated Stroudsburg 4-3 in its final match of the season to force a playoff with the Mounties for the Mountain Valley Conference regular season championship.

A time and location of the playoff match will be decided early next week.

BOYS TENNIS

Stroudsburg-Pleasant Vy.

Three of Pleasant Valley's four doubles teams won and helped the Bears defeat Stroudsburg, 4-3 in MVC tennis action.

The Bears' doubles teams on Kyle Tamaraz/Lou Bravo, Stevie Berry/Mike Hughart and James Osinski/Jeff Olah each posted straight-set victories.

No. 2 singles player Jon White won his respective match, 6-0, 6-2.

Pleasant Valley finishes the year 15-1 (11-1).

BASEBALL

Palmerton-Catasauqua

Catasauqua plated seven runs in the first inning and went on to blank Palmerton in five innings, 10-0 in Colonial League play.

Carlos Perez led the Roughies with three RBIs. Teammates Jake Bloszinsky and Jeff Trexler each knocked in two more.

Palmerton's two hits came from Tanner Gutekunst and Lee Kuntz.

Panther Valley-Tamaqua

Panther Valley raced out to a seven run lead and never looked back, topping Panther Valley 7-2.

Matt Roberts led the Raiders (5-9) with two hits, including a two-run homer, and two runs scored. Brett Kosciolek also had two hits and two runs scored.

Jake Szczecina was the top offensive threat for the Panthers with two hits.

Nativity-Marian

Nativity scored six runs in the top of the sixth to pull away from Marian, 10-3, in a Schuylkill League game.

Anthony Pilla led the Colts (9-5, 4-3) with two hits. He had a single and a solo homerun.

Bangor outlasted Northern Lehigh at home, winning 7-2 in Colonial League action.

Lourdes scored early and often in its 16-1 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

Nikki Komara led the Red Raiders with three hits and four RBIs. Teammate Maura Frasch added two hits and three RBIs.

Tamaqua's Chey Bates (two singles) and Brianna Boyle (single, double) each had two hits.

GIRLS SOCCER

Palmerton-Northwestern

Northwestern tallied four goals in each half and defeated Colonial League foe Palmerton, 8-1.

Sarah Segan, Haylee Kubat and Angela Motolese each scored twice for the Lady Tigers. Teammates Nicole Lach and Rachel Fisher added the other two goals.

Palmerton's lone goal was scored by Julia Paulinho in the first half.
