Is your canine a good citizen?

Does your dog have good manners? Does he know how to greet a friendly stranger?
Does she come when you call her? Is your dog a canine good citizen?
Those are questions Deb Galan-Parsons asked several dog owners at Chestnuthill Township Park at a free event. She talked about the benefits of the Canine Good Citizen Program for the responsible dog owner. She believes responsibility should start the moment you decide to add a new dog or puppy to your family.
That responsibility includes the dog's health, safety, quality of life and not allowing your dog to infringe on the rights of others.
Galan-Parsons is an AKC (American Kennel Club) evaluator and wanted to see if there was enough interest in dog training classes and after Saturday morning's turnout, she believes there is.
At the session, dog owner Nancy Beck learned that there will be a three-acre Dog Park at the West End Regional Park, on Merwine-Hilltop Road, Brodheadsville, which she finds to be very exciting.
