Black ice blamed for accident

State police at the Fogelsville barracks were summoned at 6:50 a.m., Dec. 9, to Limeport Pike in Lower Milford Township where two vehicles crashed.

Police said Nickole K. Knapp, 27, of Coopersburg, was driving a 2009 Dodge Caliber southbound when it encountered a large patch of black ice. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which crossed into the northbound lane where it struck the front of a 2010 Lexus RX 350, operated by Dawn Ferketich, 59, of Green Lane.

Police said the Lexus came to rest in the northbound lane of travel, while the Caliber continued southbound and came to rest in a field.

Neither driver, nor 2-year-old Shaylynn Knapp and Ryan Knapp, 27, passenger's in the vehicle Nickole was driving, were injured.
