Garden of Giving

The board of directors of the Garden of Giving has grown by two new members as of the Jan. 2 meeting. They are Kathleen A. Fisher of McMichaels and Noreen Gorka of Pocono Summit.

Anyone else interested in serving on this community outreach organization's board may gather more information at the Garden of Giving web site.

Lions board

The Western Pocono Lions Club board of directors will meet at the Western Pocono Community Library at 7 p.m. All Lions are welcome. The Leo Founders Award for 2010-2011 will be presented to Meredith Thomas of the Pleasant Valley High School Leo Club.

Dual meeting

The West End Rotary Club will combine this month's board meeting with the club assembly when the group meets Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.

Band parents

Pleasant Valley Band Parents are schedule to meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, at the high school.

Sunday School resumes

Pleasant Valley Presbyterian's Sunday School classes will resume at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8.

Religious instruction resumes

Religious education classes will resume at Our Lady Queen of Peace on Jan. 7, 8, 9, and 10.

New service

In addition to the regular worship services at Effort UMC on Saturday at 5 p.m., and Sunday morning, an additional service, in contemporary format, will begin on Jan. 15 from 9:45-10:30 a.m. and will continue every third Sunday throughout the year.

All Sports Club

The All Sports Club of Pleasant Valley will meet at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9, in the high school library.

Special speaker

The meeting at the Chestnuthill Senior Center on Wednesday, Jan. 11, will feature Chris Brecht from ESU who will present a program on Germ Away at 11:15 a.m.

The group meets at the Zion Lutheran Church complex in Brodheadsville.

PV Middle School

At 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, the Pleasant Valley Middle School PAC/PTO will meet.
