Legislator to speak
Western Pocono Lions Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18, at The Old Mill Pizza in Sciota. The speaker will be state Rep. Mike Carroll on the topic of redistricting.
Rotary speaker
The West End Rotary Club will welcome Len Peeters, who will speak about Gateway Funding at the club's 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting on Thursday, Jan. 19.
The club regularly meets at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.
Avoiding Hypothermia
Chestnuthill Seniors will hear a presentation on Avoiding Hypothermia at 11:15 a.m when they meet on Jan. 25 at the Senior Center at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.

Zion's Seniors
Another senior group, named Zion Senior Citizens, will meet at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 19.
Extreme Couponing
An Extreme Couponing group meets at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert. The next meeting of the group is at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24 in McCawley Hall.

Knit and Crochet
On Jan. 24, beginning at 1 p.m., Zion Lutheran's Knit and Crochet group will meet. The group includes the experienced and the novice. All that is needed is a desire to learn.
Girl Scout project
Girl Scout Troop 376 has begun to taking orders for Girl Scout Cookies. Among their collective work is accepting order donations for Operation Touch of Home.
Obtain more information by emailing Troop 376 leader Dawn Bartholomew at dbart7@ptd.net or by calling her at (570) 977-8470. The goal is to surpass the donation from last year of 180 boxes to Operation Touch of Home.
The troop says thank you for the community's continued support for the overseas military troops.
Orders are due before March 1.
PVEN needs
The food pantry, commonly known as the PVEN, is helping to feed more and more families. The current needs include: peanut butter, jelly, and macaroni and cheese.
Anyone wishing to donate these items can bring them to the PVEN in the McIlhaney part of Brodheadsville, near the Chestnuthill Diner, on Tuesday mornings or leave them at a designated spot in any of the supporting churches.
CWU to meet
Church Women United will hold a business meeting at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Stroudsburg.
The unit is also seeking local churches to host several celebrations, including the March 2, World Day of Prayer; May 4, Friendship Day, and the Nov. 23, World Community Day.
