Summit Hill
St. Joseph council
The Parish Council of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the social hall of the church.
St. Paul Lutheran
The Rev. George Zacharda, a retired pastor from Catasauqua, will lead the worship service on Sunday, Jan. 29, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m.
The church's Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.
Church members who are responsible for submitting year-end congregational reports are reminded they are due by Jan. 29.
On Sunday, Feb. 5, the youths of the church will take a special "Souper Bowl" collection to benefit the Summit Hill Food Pantry. This is an annual event that the youth group sponsors around the time of the Super Bowl.
A congregational meeting will be held immediately after the 10:30 a.m. worship service, in which the Rev. Richard L. Hinkle, a retired pastor from Weatherly, will preside.
Garbage list
deadline Jan. 31
Susan K. Gibiser, Summit Hill borough secretary, said the deadline for making the first quarter garbage exoneration list for 2012 is on Jan. 31.
Anyone on the list last year must have their request renewed annually to remain on the list, otherwise they will be billed for trash collection.
Gibiser said some of the individuals on the list in 2011 have not done the renewals.
Nesquehoning
Democratic Club
The monthly meeting of the Nesquehoning Democratic Club will be held on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at Maple Shade Meadows. Dues for 2012 will be collected at this time.
Movie Night at Meed's
Meed's United Methodist Church, 126 E. Catawissa St., will host a movie night on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. The feature will be "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader."
Everyone is invited.
Conservation Club
The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Conservation Club will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Maple Shade Meadows.
Plans for the upcoming Spring Fishing Derby will be discussed along with other projects slated for the year.
Members are also reminded to bring in their Redner's Save-A-Tapes.
Coaldale
First Congregational Church
Morning Worship will be held at First Congregational Church, Coaldale, at 9 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 29, followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m.
The nursing home ministry team will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Hometown Nursing Center.
On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the group will visit St. Luke's-Miners Memorial, Coaldale, at 11 a.m., and MapleShade, Nesquehoning, at 1:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Feb. 5, Morning Worship will be at 9 a.m., and Sunday School at 10 a.m.
The church choir will rehearse at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8.
