Evening service
Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will hold a Saturday evening worship service this week at 5 p.m., March 3. The church offers that every first Saturday of the month.
A midweek Lenten service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 29.
Chestnuthill Elementary
The Brodheadsville School will be part of Read Across America Day on Friday, March 2.
Touch of Home
Operation: Touch of Home is looking for names and addresses of area military men and women serving in Afghanistan and other hostile areas overseas to be recipients of its spring 2012 essential's shipment. Family members or friends with this information are asked to contact: touchofhome@hotmail.com or mail information on the form that can be obtained on its web site's "GI Info." Needed is the GI's name, rank, address and deploy dates are critical. Also provide contact info of provider.
Volunteers are needed. See the website "events" page at www.operationtouchofhome.org.

Busy schedule
The Western Pocono Lioness Club has announced its tentative agenda of activities for the year.
Representatives of the club joined other groups at the Night of Unity at the Pleasant Valley High School this past Tuesday.
Upcoming in March is an Easter Egg event with pictures with the Easter Bunny from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville.
PIC volunteers
Pride in Chestnuthill (PIC) will hold its next meeting at 7 a.m., Thursday, March 8, at the Chestnuthill Twp. Municipal Building, Route 715, Brodheadsville. Because there has been mild weather PIC members have been able to see how much litter is accumulating on Chestnuthill roadsides. The group needs help for spring cleanup days, which members will discuss and set up at the meeting.
PIC is a small volunteer group which has been beautifying Chestnuthill Township for over 10 years. There are many residents who cannot come out with the group, but pick up in their own neighborhoods and PIC is thankful for them. Spring cleanups are coming soon.

Silver Tappers coming
On Wednesday, March 14, the Silver Tappers will be visiting and entertaining at the Chestnuthill Senior Center at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.
The group is a senior dance troupe division of the Pocono Dance Center.
The meeting begins at 10 a.m.
Lunch reservations must be made at the Monroe County Aging at (570) 420-3735. The cost is free.
Leap Year birthday
Linda Hinton of Saylorsburg is celebrating her birthday on Feb. 29.
