Democrats to meet
The Eastern Schuylkill Democrats will meet Monday, at 7:30 p0.m., at the East End Fire Company.
Zion Lewistown
The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley.
The service will include a children's sermon.
Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Green challenge
"Helping Wildlife" is the theme for the 2012 Schuylkill County Green Challenge, open to students in kindergarten through eighth grade, in all county public and non-public schools.
The challenge has been divided into two age group categories a poster competition for kindergarten through fourth grade, and an essay contest for fifth to eighth grade students.
There will be cash prizes for individual students and mini grants for the schools.

Lenten services
The Tamaqua Ministerium will sponsor a series of inter-denominational Mid Week Lenten services beginning Feb. 29.
All of the services will be held at noon with a light luncheon to follow.
The schedule includes: Feb. 29, Bethany Evangelical Congregational, 223 E. Broad St.; March 7, Primitive Methodist, 55 Hunter St.; March 14, First United Methodist, 124 W. Broad St.; March 21, Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St.; and March 28, St. Jerome's Catholic, 266 W. Broad St.
The public is welcome to attend any and all of the services.
Salvation Army
Sunday services at the Tamaqua Salvation Army are held at 11 a.m. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m.
Weekly activities include: Tuesday, men's and women's fellowship meets at 5 p.m., youth drama meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Timbrels, Bible study and prayer meeting at 5 p.m.; Thursday, youth group meets at 4 p.m., band rehearsal at 5:30 p.m.
Zion Lutheran
The Rev. Jeffrey Kistler will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Also on Sunday, Bible study session will be at 4 p.m. and the Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, scouts meet at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, mid week Lenter service at noon, senior choir rehearsal at 8 p.m.; Thursday, scouts meet at 6 p.m.; Saturday, "belle of the ball" gown collection from 10 a.m until noon.
Trinity UCC
The Rev. Thomas Reinsel, interim pastor, will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ.
Sunday school classes will meet at 8:45 a.m. The service will be followed by a ham dinner in Founder's Hall.
Activities for next week will include: Bible study at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, mid week Lenten service at St. John UCC at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, senior choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m., search committee meeting at 7 p.m.; Friday, fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, soup social.
