March 7, 1972 Joe Balascik pours in a game-high 19 points and also pulls down 14 rebounds as Marian cruises to a 64-50 win over Shamokin Lourdes in the Eastern semifinals of the PCIAA state tournament. Wally Yext tallies six points in the opening quarter as the Colts break out to an 18-6 lead. Mike Prekopa contributes 13 points to the winning effort while Dave Labosky finishes with an even dozen. Marian's Yext also adds seven assists.
