Locals drop debuts

Palmerton and Tamaqua both opened its boys tennis season Tuesday with losses.

BOYS TENNIS

Wilson-Palmerton

The Warriors won all but one singles match in a 4-1 Colonial League win over the Blue Bombers.

Spencer Shigo was the lone Palmerton winner, earning a victory at No. 3 singles.

Chris Ott (W) def. Tyler Snyder 6-1, 6-1; Andre Ramos (W) def/ Kevin Dayton 6-2, 6-7 (7-3), 7-6 (8-6); Spencer Shigo (P) def. Michael Veres 6-2, 7-5.

Doubles

Sam Veres and Jeff Edginger (W) def. Ty Green and Richard Roselli 6-0, 6-1; Colby Baltz and Jonathan Fernandez (W) def. Stefano Tangero and Hunter Roberts 6-3, 6-4.

MMI-Tamaqua

The Preppers managed to win all five matches against the Blue Raiders for a 5-0 shutout win.

Ryan Twardzik and Corey Spear (MMI) def. Chris Gardiner and Scott Zellner 6-0, 6-2; Billy Spear and Andy Mhley (MMI) def. Sam Depue and Gabe Bumberger 6-2, 6-4.
