March 14, 1950 Palmerton graduate Bill Mlkvy is named to the Associated Press All-Pennsylvania College Basketball Team after a statewide poll of coaches, sports writers and radio reporters. Mlkvy is the youngest of the 10 players selected. As a sophomore at Temple University, Mlkvy plays 24 games and scores 390 points for a 16.3 average. The rest of the First Team is made up of eight seniors and one junior. Mlkvy will go on to enjoy an outstanding career with Owls. He finishes with 1,539 points in three seasons and is one of three Temple players to have his number (#20) retired.
